We understand that choosing the right Supported Living services is a big decision, and you may have questions about how our program works. How do I get started with Supported Living Services?
An interested individual must first ensure he/she has a CL or FIS Waiver as well as a case manager from a Virginia Community Services Board. If this requirement is met, the individual (or substitute decision-maker) must complete a referral form. The admission process shall begin once the referral form has been processed by ABILITIES. A meeting with an ABILITIES administrator will be scheduled to discuss approximate move-in date, type of accommodations preferred, services required by the individual, and costs.

Will I have a private room/apartment or will I have a roommate?
ABILITIES’ residences shall offer private rooms, with shared common areas. Therefore, within these residences, you should expect housemates.
What should I bring with me when I move in?
- You are welcome to bring your furniture provided it safely fits into your private room. You may bring items such as your clothing, personal care supplies, medications, and food (which must be stored in the kitchen pantry).
Can I have visitors in the Supported Living residence?
You may have visitors to the Supported Living residence.
Can I stay in the Supported Living environment if I decide to switch providers?
Should you decide that you no longer want Supported Living Services from ABILITIES Beyond Disabilities, you will be required to move from the residence.
